Alesana decided to make a concept cd following a story line. It works too. Theres many intermissions during the cd that tell the story. The opening song “Curse Of The Birgin Canvas” really sets the mood for the story and the cd. The cd mixes the screaming vocals with clean vocals. Also the inclusion of keyboards on this cd helps alot. Overall it isn’t a perfect cd but from Alesana’s others cd this one is quite different than the rest of them. It still maintains the screaming mixed with great clean vocals but the fact that all the story keep the story going works well for this one.

I really do like Mastodon. You mean this isn’t Mastodon. Your could of told me it was at times and I would of agreed. This album has a very creative feel to it. At times though it reminds me of deathcore because its just blast beats and heavy screaming. None the less its a good album that relies heavily on the fact that everyone in the band is extremely skilled at what their doing and know how to create a song that is both heavy yet different. It may not be the best thing on your first listen but overtime you’ll come to see how good these guys can actually play.
