Interview – Trey Williams of Dying Fetus

First off Trey, just like to thank you for taking the time to chat. How have you been doing?

Trey – I’m fine.  Just occupying some time with this interview

Currently you are on the Summer Slaughter Tour with The Black Dahlia, Origin, and many others. How has that been going so far?

Trey – So sick.  It’s been a great tour so far. Feels like putting on a old pair of shoes. You know the kind that are now formed to your feet, so comfortable.

Your last album titled “Wrong One To Fuck With” came out at the end of June off of Relapse. Since it’s release how do you think it has gone both on record and the reception of songs played live?

Trey – We have been very pleased with the response we have seen.  Fans seem to like the new songs live.  The old songs appear to appeal less to our younger fans.  The kids love all the more recent material more so far.

For a band that consistently releases great albums, what is the writing and studio process like not only for yourself but for the band?

Trey – It’s work.  It takes time and complete attention.  We are happy when the whole process is over.  That way we can have real fun by playing the tunes live.

How did you come up with the name “Wrong One To Fuck With” and album cover?

Trey – We tossed a few names around but “wrong one to fuck with” seemed to be the hardest hitting name we had.

It was a 5 year wait between the last two albums, do you think it’ll be another 5 before we see a new one?

Trey – Only time will tell. I hope not.

With rumors spreading about a fall / winter US tour headliner for Dying Fetus can you confirm this or let any info about it slip out?

Trey – I can’t disclose at this time.

With this being your tenth year with the band how are you feelings with it? Did you think it’d ever reach this point or that you’d still be doing it?

Trey – I’m so thrilled to be here. They were one of my favorite bands from my past.  Now I get to be a long standing member, so cool!

Anything you’d like to say or put out there before I end this talk?

Trey – Thanks to our fans.  It would not be possible without their support.

Just wanted to thank you for taking the time for a quick chat and I wish you the best on the road this summer.
Trey – Thank you.  Keep rocking.
