Barry’d Treasure Season 1 Episode 1 Review

Release Date : March 18th, 2014

Barry’d Treasure is A&E’s answer to make a spin off based off the formerly popular Storage Wars series. Too bad this show didn’t take any of Storage Wars cues on how to be entertaining though.

For this episode we follow Barry Weiss who is now retired from buying storage containers and instead now helps sell random high priced items for random people. Apparently Barry has the money to roam around the country and do these random things without worry. We also have one of Barry’s friends who is a owner and creator in the candy business follow him around while plugging his candy business whenever possible. Barry for the episode tries to sell old models for a family member of the Reese’s company who is actually no longer part of the company. During this time as well Barry also meets a Amish gentleman and not only randomly invites this stranger to spend the day with him but also takes him out and spends money improving the guys looks.

The bad part about this episode is that it is horribly boring. Barry at no point is funny no matter how much he thinks he is. Neither is his pal for that part either. The show also lacks the competition and even sale moments that made Storage Wars so popular. Barry may have been a fan favorite on Storage Wars but he doesn’t do his own show justice. Instead of a show where Barry tries to buy and sell things instead I got a show where Barry made random friends and just traveled around.

I can’t really see this show lasting. Fans of Storage Wars will give up quickly once they see the humor is nonexistent as is the buying and selling aspect. I just can’t recommend this.
