Story (From IMDB) :
It has been five years since the disappearance of Katie and Hunter, and a suburban family witness strange events in their neighborhood when a woman and a mysterious child move in.
I honestly don’t know why I watched this. There hasn’t been a movie in this series that I’ve really enjoyed but I think I watch them just to see how much worse they can get. I am now happy to announce that this is by far the worst of the series, one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen, and I honestly can’t see how this series can get any worse.
For one thing the story starts off as a sequel to the 2nd movie after Katie kills her sister’s family and steals her son. For some reason all the movies tend to hop around time periods and this was as much as I can assume takes place in a modern time based off the technology. Now this films take on the PA series is the use of webcams. All the found footage is done from a webcam at night or one of the main characters friend walking around with a camera. Now the webcam feature sounds like it would work well if used right but it doesn’t. Not in the slightest.
What we get with these webcams is apparently only one person who can use them to watch the file. Even after this character teaches them how to open and watch the files it seems like everyone forgets it. I mean if they just opened and watched all of what they actually recorded I guess the movie would make a little bit more sense but then ultimately become pointless.
Now the series has always been full of long overly prolonged sequences where nothing happens and its nice to see that the series is sticking to their roots and keeping that tradition. Be ready to watch scenes where nothing happens. Not even some wind or a slight shadow sometimes. Then when something does happen it is never anything big, exciting, or even new. You see a chair slide one time but thats been done in other PA movies, a knife falls, and someone gets lifted from their bed. All still the same rehashed moments from other PA movies.
I still can’t get over the ending though. This was by far the tamest and lamest ending of the movies yet. Even with my strong disliking of the third PA film I thought the ending if done right in the fourth movie could lead to something good with the entire cult thing going on. Instead we get a rushed ending that leads to nothing that will only be continued in the next movie. Even then I can’t see anything truly ever being explained enough to my liking.
So what you get is a boring movie featuring large amounts of stupidity by the characters, a lackluster story, and ultimately just one of the worst imaginable movies. I don’t give many movies a 0 but I truly believe this one deserves it.
