Nitro Circus The Movie (2012) Review
Released : Aug.8th, 2012
Reviewed : Nov.20th, 2012
Genre : Comedy
Story (from IMDB) :
Travis Pastrana and his tight-knit, highly-skilled, adrenaline-addicted friends bring their impossible, ridiculous, insane and hysterical adventures to the big screen for the first time.
Following off the huge success of the Jackass films, Nitro Circus decided to try and make their own film while adding a few twists into it. Sadly though it doesn’t even come close to what Jackass did create.
Now I will agree that comparing Jackass to Nitro Circus is quite odd since they are quite different in what they do but since it follows in the same extreme stunts category it will work for the sake of this review. What sets this apart though from the Jackass movies though is where Jackass was nonstop stunts and nonstop laughs this one tries adding in a story, drama, and interviews with people like Rob Drydek and Channing Tatum talking about how dangerous the stunts are. They talk about this not once but several times throughout the movie. They also decided that trying to add in a story revolving around their first live show in Vegas was a good idea but if anything just drags the movie on. It doesn’t help that before each stunt though they have to spend forever talking about it and preparing.
Stunt wise this is a mixed bag. You get a few stunts that are generally really funny while the majority of them are almost boring to watch since they are near repeats of stuff done on the show. Speaking of the show they do enough flashbacks to remind you of it. Nitro Circus is more about stunts where they have to go right or else serious injury or death can occur while Jackass always nearly ends in someone getting hurt. While watching the stunts even when someone fell I rarely found myself laughing. Even the cast which is constantly joking I didn’t find that funny. It mainly turned into Travis making other people do stunts so he has a lesser chance of being hurt.
Overall if you like the TV show or want to see another “Jackass” like film check this out. After one watch you’ll never end up watching it again though.
