Review :

I know I will get slack from people for enjoying this so much but for some reason it just clicks for me. It’s like a stupid comedy with a cast who really works for this movie.

The movie revolves around pretty much the same thing the original did with a gang of inmates choosing a team and playing a game of football against the guards team run by the warden. Nothing too deep going on this movie story wise. Other than one unexpected twist in the movie it pretty much is straightforward. What really makes this movie shine is the cast. Adam Sandler actually does good in his role as a cocky ex NFL star who just wants to do his time and get it over with. The highlight of the movie though is his team consisting of people like Burt Reyonlds, Nelly, and Chris Rock as the bigger names. Even the small names play a large role in helping make this movie funny. The one liners in this film constantly flow and even though a lot of it is still the same racist, sexist, raunchy jokes that most movies do with the cast it plays off well.

Another thing for this movie that makes it work is the fact that it has multiple wrestlers in it. Kevin Nash, Goldberg, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Great Kahli help push this film over the top. Stone Cold plays his normal hard guy role and Goldberg really shows his humorous side unlike what he did in WCW. Kevin Nash’s role is by far the best. After the guys give him the pills what he does is just movie magic. Tracy Morgan also playing a manly woman in prison is frightening.

When you get down to it the movie by no means is anything new or amazing but for what it is I find it extremely funny and endlessly entertaining. Worth a view for sure.
