Story (from IMDB) :
While in his teens, Donny fathered a son, Todd, and raised him as a single parent up until Todd’s 18th birthday. Now, after not seeing each other for years, Todd’s world comes crashing down when Donny resurfaces just before Todd’s wedding.
Oh Adam Sandler how you have fallen from grace, now is this film a new start and rival for him or just another mediocre film. If you have money on this bet I’d go for the second option.
Now not only does this film have a terrible premise (teacher sleeps with child) but then it just cracks horrible jokes at it and tries to build it up like it is great. I remember hearing stores about this in real life in newspapers not Tiger Beat like this movie puts it. The film doesn’t really have any real funny moments. I kinda laughed a few times but not even a real laugh, nothing in this movie will make you bust out laughing.
Now this film has the usual cast for a Sandler film and then some but doesn’t utilize them at all. Sandler’s character is just downright annoying and he doesn’t give Andy Sandberg enough room to do anything funny or even show his acting abilities. By far the best actor in this movie is Vanilla Ice. His one liners are the funniest and they should of added more of him into the film. It just might have helped it some.
Now I just have to talk about this ending of a film where they randomly take a wrong turn and just throw any premise away. This film’s plot twist is completely out of left field you could say. It bears no meaning or point and I think is there just for shock value, too bad it didn’t get any. I will say I did see it coming kinda though.
This movie isn’t a complete waste but it is close. When you have a cast that could be great and the best part is Vanilla Ice you need to stop and check out what you are writing and filming. Hopefully Sandler can get his act together for his next film but I’m not holding my breath.
