Review:

Well after all the talk and praise of this movie , I finally decided to check it out even with not really caring for the previews. For the most part my opinion is still the same. Now this movie is based off the book of the same title and geared towards younger teenagers. I did think though with the premise of this story being about 2 people being selected from 12 districts then put into a deathmatch that is broadcast live for everyone to see is a adult theme ; they cut down so much that any real sense of it is taken away. They show some violence but the majority of it is just to much run and hide, deal with issues, etc that is gets boring. I found that the pacing of the film was pretty slow once the games actually began and that most of it was just a waiting game. Then in maybe the last quarter of the movie it just got way to love story-ish to really enjoy. I mean you are in a game that is a fight to the death and you throw in a small love twist. It was uncalled for. Now Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks played their role well with Banks having a huge makeover. Also with the film clocking in at over 2 and half hours the pacing sometimes made it feel like it dragged. In the future they need to make it surround the story with more action or at least a faster pace. Overall odds are I’ll never watch it again but at least I saw it once.
